Welcome from Fr. Scott

Welcome to St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church

I am so glad you are interested in learning more about our parish. In February 2019, I had the great opportunity to begin parish ministry at St. Maria Goretti as the parochial administrator. I cherish every day at St. Maria Goretti and it is very exciting to serve such a dedicated and faithful community.

As you look through our website, you will discover the richness of our ministries and the many opportunities to become more involved in living our Catholic faith. Through our school, religious education, youth ministry, adult formation, outreach programs, and parish commissions, we offer many ways for putting your unique gifts and talents at the service of the Lord.

With St. Maria Goretti as our patron, we strive to follow her life of forgiveness and holiness. She is one of the youngest canonized saints in the Church and died at the age of 11 after forgiving her attacker. Maria is known as The Little Saint of Great Mercy. Through her intercession, may we grow into a people with a heart always willing to forgive self and neighbor.

At St. Maria Goretti, we encourage each other to grow in holiness, and in our love and knowledge of our Catholic faith. We desire to be in union with Jesus Christ and one another. We will accomplish this mission through worship and prayer, education, and evangelization in our community and world. We encourage others to join us on this journey of Faith and in discipleship for the Lord.

Whether you are new to the Catholic faith, new to our parish, or new to the Madison area, I welcome you. I look forward to meeting you all. Please know that my door is always open. May God continue to watch over and fill your lives with His blessings.

In Christ,

Fr. Scott Emerson
Pastor
