Sister Denise Herrmann, CSA came to St. Maria Goretti Parish in the Spring of 1998. In her ministry here, she provides formation and training for the various liturgical ministers and organizes the many details of liturgies. She thrives on being able to share about the sacraments and feels richly blessed each time she meets with parents preparing for their infants’ baptisms, providing catechesis for adults preparing for their initiation sacraments and couples planning their wedding liturgies.
Sr. Denise grew up on a farm in Illinois, attending public schools and her parish’s catechism classes. After high school she came to Wisconsin for college and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Elementary Education. Sr. Denise taught primary grades for many years in Catholic Parish Schools in Wisconsin and Illinois and teaching religious education classes in those parishes. When she was not in summer school herself, she spent her summers in service with the Sisters in Fond du Lac and in an inner-city recreational program in Mobile, Alabama.
With the call to move into parish ministry, Sr. Denise pursued education in pastoral studies, theology and liturgy at Loyola University and Catholic Theological Union both in Chicago. Her graduate degrees concluded by earning a Doctor of Ministry with a Concentration in Liturgy.
