Deacon Dick Martin

Deacon Dick Martin

Outreach Coordinator

Deacon Dick Martin was ordained a Deacon by Bishop Robert Morlino on July 23, 2004 and was immediately assigned to St. Maria Goretti, his home parish. Deacon Dick currently serves as the Social Concerns and Outreach Coordinator for the parish.

Dick grew up in Menasha, WI where he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and High School. After high school, he came to Madison to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he obtained a bachelor's and master's degree Statistics with a specialty in Statistical Computing. While at UW-Madison, Dick was involved at St. Paul’s University Catholic Center and the charismatic prayer group there.

Not wanting to leave Madison, he made more use of his computing skills rather than his statistics background and worked for the State of Wisconsin for 37 years. The last 31 of those years was with the Wisconsin Legislature where he was a founding member of the Legislature’s computer support group, now known as the Legislative Technology Services Bureau.

Dick married Suzanne Raymond at St. Paul’s Catholic Center and raised two wonderful daughters and have been blessed with two grandchildren. Of special blessing is that the priest that witnessed their marriage also witnessed the marriage of their daughter.

Suzanne and Dick are grateful to God for the support and friendship they have found in the community at St. Maria Goretti and pray that God will continue to pour out His blessings upon His Church and especially upon this wonderful parish.
