It is not a requirements that school families are Catholic, but students attending St. Maria Goretti Catholic School must participate in Mass and other faith-based activities.
Families belonging to another parish are given consideration after St. Maria Goretti parishioners, as defined in our Admissions Policy.

Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School partners with Culinary Creations school lunch program at the Catholic Multicultural Center to provide our students with fresh, healthy, and balanced meals. The lunch program is available for students in grades K-8.

The Madison Metropolitan Public School District provides bus service for the children in grades K-5, who live at least one and one-half miles from the school and are in the St. Maria Goretti School attendance area. Middle school families may ride the bus if there is room on the bus for them and they live in the attendance area.
The bus company serving St. Maria Goretti Catholic School is Badger Bus Company.
Parents and students must assume that school bus transportation is a privilege to the student, not a right. Students who misbehave may be denied the privilege of riding the bus.
Requests for variations in routes or stops is determined by the Madison Metropolitan School District and may not be granted.
Uniforms are available from Land’s End and SMG Gorettiwear is available year round in the school office. Uniform re-sale closet is available all year during school hours.

The St. Maria Goretti athletic program strives to provide a healthy educational program of interscholastic sports for students in grades 5-8.

St. Maria Goretti offers Spanish class beginning in Kindergarten.
The St. Maria Goretti Band Program is provided through Overture Band. Students in grades 4-8 will have the opportunity to participate. Introductory information will be sent home with all students in grades 4-8. Returning band students will receive sign-up materials during the summer.
The St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church Music Ministry is delighted to offer an array of opportunities for our students. From private voice and piano instruction, semi-private and group band instruction, musical literacy classes, unique performance opportunities, and so much more, the Music Education Program is committed to the musical and artistic development of each and every child!

St. Maria Goretti sponsors Boy Scout Troop 102 and Cub Scout Pack 102. Troop 102 is a year-round program for boys ages 11 through 17. Pack 102 includes boys in the grades 1-5.
The purpose of both programs is to provide educational experiences to build character, develop a sense of citizenship, and promote physical fitness.
Cold Weather - In order for students to play on the snow at morning drop-off and recess, students must have boots, and students in grades K-5 must also have snowpants.
Morning Drop-off - School begins at 7:40 a.m., with the tardy bell ringing at 7:47 a.m. Please do not arrive before 7:25 a.m., as there is no supervision prior to that time.
Afternoon Pickup - No child will be permitted to leave the grounds with another child or adult without written permission from his/her parents.
We request all K-8 parents who choose to pick up their child to wait outside the school entrance. Early Childhood parents may enter the building. Teachers in grades K-4 will escort their children to exit the school building. Students in grades 5-8 will be dismissed out the Middle School doors and proceed to the playground.
If St. Maria Goretti closes due to weather or other emergency, the Red Alert System will be implemented; parents will receive phone calls and emails informing them of the circumstances.
If the Madison Public Schools are closed, St. Maria Goretti Catholic School will also be closed. However, St. Maria Goretti does reserve the right to make its own decision about closing. If severe weather conditions develop during the day, listen to the radio and television for announcements.
St. Maria Goretti Catholic School is accredited by the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation (WRISA) organization. Every seven years the school conducts a self-study based on the standards set by WRISA. After the Self-Study is complete, a Visiting Team of educators come to the school to confirm the findings of the Self-Study and make any additional suggestions. The information from the Self-Study is used to develop a Long Range Plan for the School. The Long Range Plan is reviewed and updated annually by St. Maria Goretti School and by WRISA.
