Welcome New Staff Members!
Trish Schaefer, Parish Secretary
"I am excited to be the new Parish Secretary here at St. Maria Goretti Parish. I have lived in Stoughton for the past 19 years with my husband Jason and our three children, Evelyn, Aly and Gregory. I was born and raised in Oshkosh, where I attended Catholic grade school and high school before attending St. Norbert College in De Pere. I taught middle and high school Spanish for more than 20 years and worked for one year in a receptionist position at Queen of Peace Parish in Madison before applying for this position. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, crafts and spending time with my family – which usually means spending time at a pool since all three of my kids are competitive swimmers. I look forward to meeting and working with the parishioners and families of SMG."
Steve Davies brings more than 25 years of experience in project management plus marketing along with almost 15 years in religious education and youth ministry to the Parish. His energy and passion for the Catholic faith, as well as for working with teens and public speaking, plus several successful fundraising efforts, all have helped him develop the skills to direct the Religious Education program for middle and high school.
Steve has two grown children, Amanda and Peter, plus two ‘bonus’ children, Sarah and AJ, whom he says help him grow in his faith everyday.
“Having kids gives me certainty that God indeed is Love. He gives me a tiny taste of that love when I experience just how much I love all of my kids and my wife Shannon. The Lord loves us even more??? Whoa!!!”
In his spare time, Steve also enjoys gardening and landscaping, backpacking, cooking and spending time in the outdoors. He likes to read a lot from different Catholic books and listens to a lot of Catholic CD talks. He says that this helps him to continue growing in his faith and learning to trust in the Lord’s plan for his life more and more each day.
