Military Service Project
The SMG Military Service Project sends supplies to U.S. service personnel serving in troubled areas. Since this project began in 2005, our committee has had 23 collections and sent approximately 1300 boxes to several hundred men and women. We thank the generous SMG parishioners for making all this possible.
Our collection goes through May 26-27. If you wish to donate, here are some suggested items:

  • Granola/Energy Bars
  • Beef Jerky
  • Trail Mix/Mixed Nuts/Peanuts
  • Sunflower Seeds
  • Batteries-AA
  • White Socks
  • Non-Chocolate Candy
  • Cookies/Crackers
  • Powdered Drink Mixes
  • Fruit in small can containers (no plastic)

Monetary Donations are welcome to cover the mailing costs of $17.35 per box. Checks should be made out to Saint Maria Goretti Parish and will be collected in the church corridor at our table after Masses. Please note “SMG Military Service Project” on the memo line.
The committee welcomes the names of military personnel serving in combat zones. If you know of someone currently deployed in these areas, please contact Sharon Betlach at
