Each fall season, the parishioners of Saint Maria Goretti Church are asked to reflect on the blessings of God in our lives. We are then asked to renew our commitment to support financially the mission of the Gospel, carried out by our parish community.

Our commitment provides the necessary funds for the mission work of our parish. Our gift makes it possible for us to support the school; the religious education and youth ministry programs; and the parish operations and facility, salaries, utilities, repairs, maintenance, and improvements. As we all know, these costs continue to increase.

Called to Share our Blessings
St. Maria Goretti Stewardship Prayer

I am an important member of my parish.
I help make it what it is.
It will be welcoming, if I am welcoming.
It will be holy, if I am holy.
It will be prayerful, if I pray.
My parish is the Body of Christ,
and I am a member of that Body.
When I am generous with my time and talent,
and pledge to return to God what God has given to me,
then my parish is able to further the Mission of the Gospel
and all the more it becomes the Body of Christ for the world.
My parish will be a parish of faith, hope, and love;
of compassion, charity and mercy, if I, too, practice these virtues.
Therefore, with Your help, O God,
I dedicate myself to be a faithful steward in my parish.
Grant me the graces to live out my commitment.
I ask this in faith through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Tithing

Catholic teaching asks us to strive to set aside as our offering to God a tithe – or 10% – from all we have. Of course, each of us has the faith responsibility to dialogue with God about what he asks of us. For some this sacrifice will be easy and a joy, for others it may take a while to get to this point. Of this tithe, we are asked to offer half – or 5% – to our parish and half – or 5% – to other worthy Catholic appeals and missions. It is suggested that of this second half we set aside 1% for the Diocesan Annual Appeal, and 1% for the Diocesan Catholic Charities, and the remaining 3% to other Catholic collections that occur throughout the year.

These offerings are made using your regular Sunday contribution envelopes, Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT), or online giving.

Please complete the annual pledge form to indicate your level of support; please complete the form even if your pledged amount will not change or if you are not able to make a pledge this year.
