Professional Choral Singers
Professional Choral Singers
St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church employs several professional choral singer positions each year. Positions are made available to individuals following a successful audition with the Director of Music. On occasion, professional choral singers are appointed to lead responsorial singing, service music, and, depending on qualifications, may be asked to teach or lead a choral ensemble for additional remuneration. These positions are given during or prior to the academic year. Auditions take place during the first week in September and throughout the year as needed. Positions are held from September through mid-June and may be renewed for successive years if both the choral scholar and the Director of Music mutually agree.
The choral ensembles of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church utilize a wide variety of choral music including, but is not limited to, Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, the choral music of the European choral tradition, and the choral music of the modern church. In addition to their choral singing duties, singers will be required to perform in up to two group recitals during each choral season without additional remuneration. The parish will award up to eight professional singing positions per academic year, 2 per voice part (SATB). Singers most familiar with singing in the early music and European renaissance choral traditions will be given preference.
