Mazzuchelli Care Team

Mazzuchelli Care Team

“Jesus teaches us another way: Go out. Go out and share your testimony, go out and interact with your brothers, go out and share, go out and ask. Become the Word in body as well as spirit.” – Pope Francis

The newly formed Mazzuchelli Care Team at St. Maria Goretti has taken Pope Francis’ words to heart and have been going out to parishioners who are in nursing homes, assisted care facilities or homebound. They bring not only communion, but community – keeping our brothers and sisters of the parish connected to our larger family.

The results have been transformative, not just for those being visited, but for the visitor as well. We asked current care team members to share a few words about their experiences and blessings by being a team member, and include some of their responses here:

“It has been an incredible blessing to bring Christ out into the world and to visit people in their environment when they can’t get out to be with others.” – Care Team Member

“The best experience has been getting to know the rich life and childhood experiences that are quite unique and stories that span over eight decades of a parish member’s life.” – Care Team Member

“Even though you may see this ministry as a small thing that you do to bring Christ into the world, it means a great deal to the person you are visiting!” – Care Team Member

“It will simply bless and enrich your life.” – Care Team Member

By being paired with another SMG parishioner, our care team members are able to build strong personal, faith-based relationships. In this way, they are able to live out their faith as part of their daily lives in a richly rewarding manner.

If you would be interested in living out your faith as a member of this team, contact Deacon Dick Martin at 608-268-2956 or dick.martin@stmariagoretti.org or Deacon Jerome Buhman at 608-268-2976 or jerome.buhman@stmariagoretti.org.
