“Jesus teaches us another way: Go out. Go out and share your testimony, go out and interact with your brothers, go out and share, go out and ask. Become the Word in body as well as spirit.” – Pope Francis

The newly formed Mazzuchelli Care Team at St. Maria Goretti has taken Pope Francis’ words to heart and have been going out to parishioners who are in nursing homes, assisted care facilities or homebound. They bring not only communion, but community – keeping our brothers and sisters of the parish connected to our larger family.

The results have been transformative, not just for those being visited, but for the visitor as well. We asked current care team members to share a few words about their experiences and blessings by being a team member, and include some of their responses here:

By being paired with another SMG parishioner, our care team members are able to build strong personal, faith-based relationships. In this way, they are able to live out their faith as part of their daily lives in a richly rewarding manner.
