New School Library
by Gail Ansheles, SMG Librarian
Are you curious about the origin of the St. Maria Goretti woodcut picture hanging in the library? Well, thanks to Sister Marie Kees, we have the history of how SMG acquired this beautiful artwork.
The image, which hangs to the left as you enter the library, first belonged to Sister Maria Goretti Frigo, CSA, a Sister of St. Agnes. When she died in July, 2001, her sister, Sister Marianna, CSA, gave it to Sister Marie because she was ministering here at St. Maria Goretti Parish. Sister Marie so appreciated the thoughtful gesture and decided to give it to our school, in memory of Sister Maria Goretti Frigo.
The picture was hanging in the former school office, until we renovated the library – we think it looks perfect with our new décor!
