The 5th and 6th grade boys and girls teams enjoyed a full weekend on Feb 12th-14th with MAISL end of the year tournament play. Brackets were filled and the gyms were alive with excitement and determination. The 5th Grade Girls took the Consolation A Bracket Championship by beating Abundant Life 11-10. The 5th Grade Boys Red team took it all the way winning the Championship in the A Bracket. The 6th Grade Boys Red team went on a two game winning streak to end the season and were crowned B Bracket Consolation Champs. All the teams represented SMG with great sportsmanship and fantastic effort on the court. Congratulations to all the teams that competed throughout the year. SMG is very proud of its players and coaches. SMG hosted the first annual 5th Grade Boys Cardinal Invitational this past weekend. We had 8 teams from MAISL enter the tournament which ran Friday night and all day Saturday. Both SMG teams entered the tournament. SMG Red and SMG White knocked off their first two opponents to make it to the Championship game. Both teams played well and exhibited fantastic sportsmanship. SMG Red won the Championship with SMG White taking 2nd place. Congrats to both teams for a job well done. 7th and 8th grade teams are finishing up regular season play and will be competing in end of the year tournaments beginning in March.
