Educational Objectives

Our objectives for the school year are to ensure that each of our parish children:

1. Becomes aware that s/he is a unique and special part of God’s Family.
2. Understands the Church is God’s family.
3. Understands s/he is a child of God.
4. Articulates that God made us and loves us.
5. Identifies members of the Holy Family.
6. Understands Mary is Jesus’ mother.
7. Understands Joseph is Jesus’ earthly father.
8. Is acquainted with the story of creation.
9. Recognizes appreciates and takes care of God’s creation.
10. Understands prayer is talking to God.
11. Understands that God listens to each person’s prayer.
12. Demonstrates and participates in grace before meals.
13. Demonstrates and participates the Sign of the Cross.
14. Becomes aware of other formal prayers. (e.g. Our Father, Hail Mary)
15. Becomes aware of right and wrong.
16. We forgive those who hurt us as God forgives us.
17. Can recall all or part of the “Christmas Story”.
18. Identifies Christmas as Jesus’ birthday.
19. Identifies Easter/Holy week.
20. Identifies the Bible as stories about God and his love for us.
21. Identifies the Church as God’s house.
22. Identifies St. Maria Goretti as his/her church.
23. Understands that the Sacrament of Baptism is a special celebration that makes us part of the Church.
